What is Nursing?
Nursing might seem like a simple profession that most would say they understand, but it can get a little more complicated than that...
Studying Nursing in University and passing the final exam makes you a Registered Nurse (RN). After graduation, RNs can pursue roles such as generalist RNs, providing direct patient care across hospital, clinic, or community settings; critical care or ICU nurses, managing seriously ill or injured patients; pediatric, neonatal, or obstetric nurses, focusing on care for children, newborns, or expecting mothers; psychiatric or mental health nurses, supporting patients with mental health conditions; and public health nurses, promoting community health and disease prevention. Advanced practice options, usually requiring graduate-level education, include Nurse Practitioners (NPs) who can diagnose, prescribe, and manage patient care independently, and Clinical Nurse Specialists, who provide expertise in specialized areas of care. Across these roles, nurses assess patient health, administer medications and treatments, educate patients and families, coordinate care with healthcare teams, and ensure overall patient safety and wellbeing.
